Blogging reminds me of thinking out loud. I've always done that in person and find it helps me work out and test my thoughts and ideas. See how they sound, gather input and reactions, before putting them into effect.
That's what we'll be doing with this blog. My consulting work with lawyers focuses on research, writing, information design, and knowledge management — finding, organizing, and communicating information — in our technology-driven world.
Creative problem solving is often described as "connecting the dots" and I like that image so much it's the basis for my company logo. But, as Warren Bennis pointed out in Organizing Genius, the best creative problem solvers have accumulated "a vast number of experiential dots to connect."
Thus, the name of this blog is meant to inspire lawyers to organize their own personal knowledge systems, adopt and master the technology tools available, and continually collect the dots they may need to connect tomorrow.
