Okay, we don't have to be serious about the consequences of abusing PowerPoint all the time, do we? A recent search on lawyers and PowerPoint returned a hit to an essay by David Gould called The Perils of Pestering Partners with PowerPoint. In the course of his discussion of the ubiquitous communication tool, he noted that upon "arriving home from work last week, I did have the pleasure of seeing the following, complete with Drive In, Flying, Drop In and Dissolve animations:"
We could spend some time here discussing how David's wife might have gotten her points across better by using graphics to convey the emotional part of the message. We could suggest storyboarding techniques for structuring her ideas.
But hey, maybe coming home to a running slideshow is still unusual enough to be its own attention-getter. In most homes, anyway.
So go enjoy the rest of the essay and his other example of annoying people with bullet lists.
